A great opportunity to speak with professors and past participants from all Study Abroad Programs on October 2, 2008

Detroit, MI (October 2, 2008) - Wayne State University's Department of Study Abroad and Global Programs is hosting an annual Study Abroad Fair. Professors and past participants from each program will be present to answer any and all questions. Weather permitting, the Study Abroad Fair will take place on Gullen Mall. In case of weather inclement, the fair will be located in the Student Center South Commons. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday October 2, 2008.

This event highlights the values promoted by Wayne State University, one of which is the necessity to prepare students with essential competencies to thrive and compete in a global economy. "Studying abroad enhances critical thinking skills; improves the ability to communicate across cultural and national barriers; promotes personal growth; and provides our nation with citizens that are economically competitive and politically savvy," says Kelli Dixon, PhD., Director of Study Abroad and Global Programs.

Programs highlighted will include countries such as Brazil, Italy, Poland, Russia, Germany, China, Mexico, Spain, England, France, Belize, and many more. Wayne State University has programs that go abroad for as short as a week to as long as a year. The programs are open to students in most majors, years of study, and even non WSU-students. "As an emeritus professor of mechanical engineering at WSU, I would like to share my and my wife's comments about the recent Wayne State in Abruzzo educational trip," says Robert Piccirelli, PhD., and summer 2008 participant. "This was a fabulous 32-day adventure! We are writing to tell you how very much we enjoyed the experience, and urge you to continue the program to give others the opportunity to learn about Italy, its language, and its culture."
