Alumni Association Magazine Wins Journalism Awards

DETROIT - April 16, 2008 -- Wayne State magazine won three awards from the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Art director Margaret Kelly received a second-place award for magazine spread design for the Summer 2007 story "Students 101." She also won third place for the Winter 2007 magazine cover "Borrowed Treasures," which featured a collection from the University Libraries.

Editor Michelle Franzen Martin and contributing writer Jack Lessenberry, lecturer in the Wayne State journalism department, received a third-place award for features reporting in the Fall 2007 special issue "Transforming Wayne," which chronicled President Irvin D. Reid's decade of service to Wayne State.
