The station won top honors in the Community Involvement category for its participation in and sponsorship of the Story Corps Griot Project, an oral history endeavor dedicated to collecting the stories of African-Americans for permanent archive at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
WDET also won Merit Awards in the following categories:
• Mini-Documentary/Series: Detroit 1967: A Turning Point, a special thirteen-part series produced by WDET's news department on the 40th anniversary of the Detroit riots.
• Special Programming: Mother's Day is Special, an hour-long program produced by WDET's Zac Rosen, celebrating mothers.
• Membership Appeals: Year- End Giving with Fred Grant, CPA, a series of on-air announcements with local CPA, Wayne State alumnus and WDET member Fred Grant, explaining the benefits of the Michigan Tax Credit when a gift is made to WDET before the end of the year.
