Edward James Olmos presents, "We're All in the Same Gang," on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 3-5 pm in the Wayne State University Community Arts Auditorium. Olmos emphasizes culture, diversity, and racial harmony as the major strengths of America. He tells of his personal experiences surviving the barrio, succeeding through making his own choices, and finding America's diversity is our greatest asset. He is a respected actor in movies (Stand and Deliver, Selena, Blade Runner), on television (Miami Vice, American Family, Battlestar Gallactica), and on Broadway (Zoot Suit). As the executive director of the Lives in Hazard Educational Project, a national gang prevention program funded by the U.S. Dept. of Justice, Olmos will also share his views on preventing violence in communities. He is involved in many humanitarian efforts, including serving as U.S. Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. Hispanic Magazine named him America's most influential Hispanic-American.

Admission to "We're All in the Same Gang" is free and open to the public, but tickets are necessary. Free tickets are available in the Dean of Students Office, Room 351 Student Center. A resource fair in the Community Arts Auditorium from 2-3 pm will allow attendees to learn about the diverse student organizations and departments at Wayne State University. The event is hosted by Wayne State University's Lambda Theta Alpha sorority.
