The Wayne State University Alumni Association invites alumni and friends to attend the first Spring Alumni Awards Gala, a new Commencement tradition.
While the campus community celebrates the successes of students at graduation, the alumni association will honor alumni who have made their mark in the world. The event begins at 6 p.m. May 3 in Alumni House, followed by a reception at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center. Walking tours of campus also will be offered beginning at 5 p.m.
The gala will celebrate the dynamic achievements of four alumni who exemplify the Wayne State spirit of excellence and service to the community.
This year’s recipients are Mildred Matlock of Farmington Hills, recipient of the Homer D. Strong Award; the Hon. Annice Wagner of Washington, D.C., recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award; Olivia Washington of Detroit, recipient of the Faculty Service Award; and Barbara Flis of Farmington Hills, recipient of the Recent Alumni Award.
Cost for the gala is $20 for alumni association members and $25 for non-members. Reserve online at www.alumni.wayne.edu/events or call (313) 577-0300.
