University fundraiser addresses Darfur crisis

WSU professor Saeed Khan was among guest speakers at a fundraiser for the University of Michigan-Dearborn chapter of Amnesty International on March 22. The speakers addressed the civil strife in Sudan that has resulted in the death of more than 450,000 people. "This is very much a humanitarian crisis and the major powers do not want to get involved," Khan said. He observed that there is "a general ambivalence" in the international community regarding the conflict and urged those in the audience to "speak out against injustice."
