"The Spirit of Regional Cooperation" topic of March 28 presentation featuring Dan Mulhern

\"\"/Dan Mulhern, Michigan’s “First Gentleman,” will be the featured speaker during “The Spirit of Regional Cooperation” event presented by Leaders Without Borders on Wednesday, March 28 at The Renaissance Club in the Renaissance Center from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at 200 Renaissance Center, Suite 3600. Valet parking is available at the north entrance on Jefferson.

Mulhern will focus his leadership talk on the challenges of collaboration and community that offer both challenge and opportunity. As Michigan struggles to reinvent itself, we all have to go beyond traditional divisions and work together. His talk will address the way “everyday leaders” can gauge and improve effectiveness while working to generate change.

The program is sponsored by Leaders Without Borders, a group of area leadership organizations and programs from Southeast Michigan and Southwest Ontario who joined forces in the spirit of regional cooperation. The group includes Leadership Detroit, Detroit Orientation Institute (DOI), Leadership Macomb, Leadership Oakland and Leadership Windsor/Essex. Since its inception in 2002, over 3,000 leaders have united to provide opportunities for networking and education on regional issues and challenges.

As Michigan’s first “First Gentleman,” Mulhern is a champion for the cause of state volunteerism and community service, agreeing to chair the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC). He is an accomplished leadership coach and organizational development expert and is using those skills to guide the Office of Great Workplace Development, whose aim is to make the State government a “great place to do great work.”

He has similarly taken on a large role in promoting the practices of Michigan\'s companies recognized as "great companies to work for;" and he serves as Honorary Vice-Chair of the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness. Mulhern is also a tireless advocate for kids leading an effort called Mentor Michigan that works to insure that all of Michigan’s children have the same opportunity to be influenced and taught by a caring adult.
