March 21, 12:00 p.m. - Dr. Judith Harick will discuss “Hezbollah’s Popular Support as Political Leverage in the Post Summer War Period.” The lecture will take place at Bernath Auditorium, David Adamany Undergraduate Library, 5155 Gullen Mall, WSU’s main Detroit campus.
Harik resides in Beirut and Bteghrine, Lebanon. She continues her scholarly focus on military conflict and has a “front row seat” on the Palestinian /Israeli Conflict.
March 22, 5:30 p.m. - Consul General Barukh Binah of Israel Midwest will discuss “The Middle East in the Shadow of Iranian Threat.” The seminar will take place at the WSU Welcome Center located at 42 W. Warren and Woodward, Detroit.
Consul General Barukh Binah has held various positions in diplomacy, research, and policy planning and media relations. He served as the Secretary of the Israel Oriental Society and contributed to literary periodicals.
March 23, 4:00 p.m. - Ambassador Imad Moustapha of Syria will lecture on “Whither the Middle East.” The seminar will take place at the WSU Bernath Auditorium in the David Adamany Undergraduate Library, 5155 Gullen Mall, Detroit.
Ambassador Imad Moustapha possesses a long list of publications; both in English and Arabic. He is co-author of the UN sponsored Human Development Report in the Arab World (2003), which was widely quoted worldwide.
March 26, 6:00 p.m. - Brig. Gen. Robert H. Holmes and Brig. Gen. Ahsan Mehmood will discuss “Central Command’s Perspective on Regional Security.” The seminar will take place at the Wayne State University Welcome Center, located at 42 W. Warren and Woodward, Detroit.
Brig. General Holmes is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of operations, to include air, ground, naval and special operations forces with a command focus on force protection and antiterrorism planning, programming and policy development in the CENTCOM area of responsibility.
Brigadier General Ahsan Mehmood joined HQ USCENTCOM as Pakistan’s Senior National Representative on Oct. 2, 2006. Before assumption of this assignment, he was Chief of Staff of a Corps in the Pakistan Army.
