Attorney Amos Williams to speak at Wayne State University on the topic 'Law Enforcement and the Bill of Rights'

Detroit attorney Amos E. Williams, who ran for Michigan attorney general on the Democratic ticket in the November 2006 election, will speak at Wayne State University Wednesday, March 7, at 12:30 p.m. on the topic “Law Enforcement and the Bill of Rights.” The presentation, which is open to the public, will be in the Bernath Auditorium of the Adamany Undergraduate Library, located in the central part of the campus.

Williams, a Detroit native and decorated Vietnam veteran, retired from the Detroit Police Department as a lieutenant after 17 years on the force in 1985. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Wayne State University and a law degree from the Detroit College of Law. He also is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Since his retirement from the DPD, he has been in private practice as an attorney specializing in civil rights and employment discrimination cases.
