Disability doesn't hold him back

Richard Bernstein of the WSU Board of Governors is profiled in this feature story. Although born blind, he graduated with honors from the University of Michigan and went on to earn a law degree from Northwestern University. A successful lawyer who has made a name for himself as an advocate for people with disabilities, he also runs in marathons, including the New York Marathon last Sunday. Recently, he was honored by Crain's Detroit Business as one of the region's top 40 leaders younger than 40. On Thursday, he'll be inducted into the Athletes With Disabilities Hall of Fame at the Troy Marriott. Several of Bernstein's other accomplishments are mentioned in the article, which is accompanied by a photo taken in his office. "I've got bigger things I want to do next year," he told writer Bill Laitner.
