Wayne State University Hosts First-ever Golden Jubilee Reunion

Graduates will be inducted into the all-new Alumni Golden Circle

Wayne State University graduates from 1956 and earlier will become charter members of the Alumni Golden Circle during the alumni association’s first-ever Golden Jubilee Reunion on Oct. 13.

The reunion, a daylong event featuring tours and activities on campus and in the surrounding area, kicks off Homecoming weekend. The reunion begins with a Welcome Back to Wayne luncheon featuring the theme 50 Years of Change and Growth at WSU, followed by a bus tour of campus and the Midtown and downtown areas, as well as a special performance by student actors of the Hilberry Theatre program. Afterward, graduates will enjoy a gourmet dinner that culminates with their induction as charter members of the Alumni Golden Circle.

“This is an exciting opportunity both for our graduates of 1956 and earlier and for the alumni association,” says Executive Director Marguerite Rigby. “Alumni will be able to see first-hand the changing face of campus while remembering their days at Wayne State. And the alumni association is thrilled to have them back and induct them as charter members of the Alumni Golden Circle.”

Transportation will be provided to the reunion via buses at two convenient stops: the Wayne State Oakland Center, 33737 Twelve Mile in Farmington Hills, and Eastland Mall, 18000 Vernier Road, Harper Woods. Buses will depart at 10:30 a.m.; reunion festivities will begin at noon. The cost for the event is $50.

The next day, Alumni Golden Circle members are invited back to campus to attend the Homecoming parade and football game. As a bonus, Alumni Golden Circle members will receive free admission to the Alumni Zone hospitality tent by showing their commemorative lapel pin from the reunion banquet.
