Wayne State University professor Daphne Ntiri is the director of the Detroit Area Lifelong Learning Coalition and a literacy advocate. She has organized many literacy initiatives internationally in Somalia and Senegal , and also promotes adult education and literacy initiatives throughout the community. International Literacy Day was Sept. 8 and was held at the WSU Law School Atrium to promote literacy awareness.
