Gentleman, start your engines this Saturday and experience live coverage of Wayne State University Librarian and rally racer, Cindy Krolikowski competing as a co-driver in the X-Games in and around Los Angeles.
“My driver and I had been selected as alternates but one of the other teams dropped out, which meant we were in!” said Krolikowski.
Rally racing is a form of motor competition that takes place on public or private roads with modified or specially built road-legal cars. This motorsport is distinguished by running not on a circuit, but instead in a point-to-point format in which participants and their co-drivers drive between set control points, leaving at regular intervals from one or more start points. Rallies take place on all surfaces and in all conditions: asphalt, gravel, snow and ice, sometimes more than one in a single rally, depending on the course and event.
Krolikowski and driver, Wyeth Gubelmann will be participating in a race on Wednesday, August 2, in Lebec, Calif. After the race, they will pack up and take the car to Los Angeles, where they are slated to run in around a stadium at the Home Depot Center in their Subaru WRX STI. The Los Angeles race will begin at 2 p.m. PST, with local television coverage to begin at 2 p.m. EST. The coverage will include edited portions of Wednesday’s race as well as live coverage of that day’s event.
