A LOOK AT THE BOOKS: How GM juggled millions GM's road may get rougher

Law professor Peter Henning, an expert on white-collar crime, was quoted in this story about a federal investigation of accounting errors by General Motors Corp. and how these errors may have misled investors. He said that when accounting errors fall uniformly in a company's favor, "that starts to look like a plan; that's not a series of accidents." Such errors would attract government attention, Henning observed.
