CAROL CAIN: Alpaca farms keep prized fleece flowing

It may not be the kind of business a lot of people have considered, but for John Foster and his wife, Kathy Keves-Foster, it doesn\'t get any better than running American Elite Alpacas of Clinton Township. Keves-Foster, an instructor in Wayne State's College of Nursing, and her husband, John Foster, who has been a judge for 41B District Court (Mt. Clemens, Clinton Township and Harrison Township) for 15 years, have run the animal farm the past 11 years. They raise alpacas -- which are similar to llamas -- and have 20 of them at farms in St. Clair and Oakland counties. Keeves-Foster said she heard about farms that bred and raised alpacas and decided it would be a great business.
