Both TV stations picked up on an AP story that reported that lawmakers in Lansing are working on budgets this week for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1. Plans offered by Gov. Jennifer Granholm and the state Senate would give the state's three big research universities, including Wayne State, a two percent increase. Funding increases would vary for the state's 12 other public universities.
