The Merrill-Palmer Institute at
Wayne
State
University and the university’s Academic College Enrichment Services is offering financial assistance for the cost of childcare to students through the U.S. Department of Education’s Campus Childcare Grant Parents In School Program (CCAMPIS).
The program is designed to support low-income parents who are pursuing a college degree by helping to provide child care services.
Current
Wayne
State undergraduate students, who receive the Pell Grant, are enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and have a minimum 2.0 GPA, may qualify for a reduction in child care cost for their children to attend Merrill-Palmer’s Child Development Lab (CDL) for preschool.
Merrill-Palmer’s Child Development Lab is a State of
Michigan licensed child-care center for children 2 1/2 to 5 years of age. The Center is located on
Wayne
State ’s main campus in
Detroit . The fee for CDL preschool is $160 per week or $35 per day. The preschool runs from 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Students who have questions about CCAMPIS or are interested in the program can call Chunping Liu at the Child Development Lab at (313) 873-0724.
