Michigan College Goal Sunday: Assists high school students seeking financial aid

Representatives from The Michigan Student Financial Aid Association, in conjunction with Partnership for Learning, are providing free information and assistance to families applying for college financial aid. The initiative, Michigan College Goal Sunday, is a statewide program that premiered in 2004 and will be held this year on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 2-4 p.m.

Professionals from Detroit-area colleges and universities, led by financial aid administrators from Wayne State University, will be on hand to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for 2006-2007. Students 23 years of age or younger should attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s), who must bring their completed 2005 IRS 1040 tax return, W-2 Forms and any other 2005 income and benefit information. Students and parent(s) or guardian(s) also should bring their federal PIN (personal identification number) if they wish to complete the FAFSA on line.

While Michigan College Sunday events will be held simultaneously throughout the state, Wayne State will host the event at: Wayne State’s
David Adamany Undergraduate Library, Community Room, 3rd Floor, 5155 Gullen Mall, on the main campus in Detroit.
