Photographic exhibit of Detroit Lions history: Opens Jan. 26 at Wayne State University's Walter P. Reuther Library

\"\"“Double Coverage: An exhibit of Detroit Lions History through photographs” opens at Wayne State University’s Walter P. Reuther Library, Thursday, Jan. 26, at 5 p.m.

Hosted by the Walter P. Reuther Library, Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs, the exhibit features images chronicling Detroit Lions history from the team’s beginning in 1934 to the present. The exhibit will highlight the birth of the Detroit Lions in Detroit; famous Lions players; championships; the four playing facilities; and, a snapshot of the National Football League (NFL) and Lions history.

Former Detroit Lion Wally Triplett will be a featured guest during the reception which begins at 5 p.m. in the atrium of the Walter P. Reuther Library, located at Wayne State’s Detroit campus, 5401 Cass Avenue. Triplett, the first African-American draftee to play in the NFL, was picked by the Lions in the 19th round of the 1949 draft. He played for Detroit from 1949-1950, and the Chicago Cardinals, 1952-53. Lions mascot “Roary” will also be on hand during the reception.
