Back to class on university audits

The president of Michigan Technological University and professors from Ferris State , Michigan State, Western Michigan and Oakland are among letter writers who weigh in on the editorial page today regarding the newspaper's January 26 article that reports on alleged waste in the state's public universities. Pointing out that his university "welcomed the (state) audit as an opportunity to improve our operations," Michigan Tech President Glenn Mroz said "our only regret is that this valuable process was used to unfairly accuse Michigan Tech and other universities of 'big waste.'" Of the professors whose letters were published, some agreed and some disagreed with information in the newspaper article.
