Freshman seminars gain in popularity

The number of colleges offering freshman seminars has nearly doubled between 2000 and 2003 to about 25 percent. These seminars offer small classes, constant discussion, lots of teacher feedback, and a major year-end writing project. Many college seminars are built around interdisciplinary topics concerning mathematics, philosophy and poetry.
