Canadian residents with a bachelor’s degree and an interest in pursuing teacher certification are invited to seek admission to a new one-year teacher certification program being offered by the Wayne State University College of Education in Detroit.
Designed to address the growing demand for admission to teacher certification programs, this program will be launched during the 2006 fall semester. Courses will be offered on Wayne State’s main campus. Orientation sessions for the pilot program will be held January 19, February 16, and March 23, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Select on Huron Church Road in Windsor at 7 PM.
“This project opens the door to our Canadian neighbors who have already completed their undergraduate education and are considering a career in education,” said Gerald Oglan, assistant dean for teacher education at Wayne State’s College of Education.
“We are providing an opportunity for them to enter a comprehensive, one-year academic program that, if completed successfully, will lead to teacher certification – indeed a milestone towards their professional development and aspirations,” Oglan said.
For more information, contact Oglan at 313-577-0902 or Larry Luvisotto, the program contact in Canada, at 519-791-7265. Information is also available on the College of Education’s Web site at www.coe.wayne.edu.
Wayne State University is a premier institution of higher education offering more than 350 academic programs through 11 schools and colleges to more than 33,000 students.
