Classical Guitarist and Recording Artist to perform at Wayne State University
DETROIT, MI (October 19, 2005) – The Wayne State University Department of Music will present young guitar virtuoso Ana Vidovic in concert at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2005. The concert is free of charge and will be held on campus in the Schaver Recital Hall, located at 480 W. Hancock, Detroit. For additional information call (313) 577-1795.
Twenty-three year old Ana Vidovic has been playing classical guitar since the age of five and has been dazzling audiences since age seven. She became an international performer by the time she was eleven and at the age of thirteen was the youngest student to attend the prestigious National Musical Academy in Zagreb, Croatia. Vidovic has given over one thousand performances since first taking the stage in 1988. She has performed in cities throughout the world, including London, Paris, Vienna, Rome, Salzburg, Budapest, Toronto, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, to name a few. In her native Croatia, she has performed with the Zagreb Soloists, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and Television. Eminent Croatian film director Petar Krelja has also featured Ana in three television documentaries.
At only twenty-three, Ana has won an impressive number of prizes and international competitions, including first prizes in the Albert Augustine International Competition in Bath, England, the Fernando Sor Competition in Rome, Italy and the Francisco Tarrega Competition in Benicasim, Spain. Her extraordinary talent and reputation led to an invitation to study at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore where she earned her Master’s Degree and is currently working on her Artist Diploma Degree, the most prestigious degree awarded by Peabody.
As a recording artist, Ana has released five CD albums under Croatia Records, Naxos Records, and BGS Records.
