Panel to explore America's role in addressing global poverty

Wayne State University will be the host site for a discussion about America’s role in dealing with global poverty on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 5-7 p.m., at 5425 Gullen Mall, College of Education building, Room 169, in Detroit.

The aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita has revealed to the world that many Americans live in poverty. In addition to groups such as African Americans, Latino Americans are among the most impoverished individuals in the United States.

Delila Owens and George Parris, assistant professors in the College of Education (COE), will lead a panel discussion titled “Eradicating Global Poverty: What is America’s Role?” The program is sponsored by the COE’s Theoretical Behavioral Foundations Division, and is supported by the Michigan Campus Compact and the United Nations Foundation.

Registration is required via e-mail to: av2229@wayne.edu. Refreshments will be served.

Wayne State University is a premier institution of higher education offering more than 350 academic programs through 11 schools and colleges to more than 33,000 students in metropolitan Detroit.
