Former Oregon Congressman Michael Kopetski to discuss China's economic and commercial development

The Detroit Council for World Affairs (DCWA) and BBK will host a dinner presentation featuring international trade consultant and former Oregon Congressman Michael Kopetski, Sept. 29, in the Main Ballroom of the Troy Marriott, at 6:30 p.m. A complimentary dinner will be served during the event which is free and open to the general public.

Kopetski brings a wealth of political and international experience to his private sector consulting efforts. Since his decision to leave Congress in 1995, he has continued efforts to promote international trade in a global economy. His clients include major multinational corporations doing business in Asia, with a focus on China.

Through the years, Kopetski has developed close relationships with the Chinese policy makers in Washington and Beijing. He continues to serve as a liaison between the business community and the diplomats posted at the Chinese Embassy in Washington.

This event is the first of a multi-part series titled the “BBK Program on Global Economics and Commerce.” For more than a quarter-century, DCWA has brought international speakers and presentations to the Detroit community, helping internationalize the region.

The purpose of DCWA is to promote a deeper understanding of international issues as well as Detroit\'s role in a changing world by providing members with a non-partisan, nation-wide forum for informed discussion, analysis and debate.
