Louisiana school shutdown forces students to catch bus to Texas

The shut-down of schools in storm-devasted New Orleans has forced hundreds of stranded students to resume classes in distant locations. Among higher education institutions unable to function are Tulane and Xavier universities. Southfield resident Lauren Kern, a freshman at Xavier, said she is considering transferring temporarily to Wayne State University until Xavier reopens.
