Detroit Public Radio Once Again Recognized For Excellence In Its Local News Coverage
June 28, 2005 – DETROIT – WDET 101.9FM Detroit Public Radio was honored with five awards from the Metro Detroit Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). These awards recognize excellence in local journalism, and these add to the numerous awards the WDET news department has been honored with this year. WDET’s 2005 SPJ awards are as follows:
General News Reporting:
Second Place: Quinn Klinefelter, “Africantown”
General Feature Reporting:

Sports Reporting:
First Place: Jerome Vaughn, “Brawl Charges”
Regular Newscast Award for General Excellence:

Local news can be heard regularly on WDET weekdays from 5am to 9am during Morning Edition and from 4pm to 7pm during All Things Considered. Local news is also provided weekend mornings from 8am to 10am during Weekend Edition Saturday and Weekend Edition Sunday.
