      Nurse Anesthesia Masters Program Expands Beyond Metropolitan Detroit

             Wayne State University is expanding its Nurse Anesthesia Master of Science program beyond the metropolitan Detroit area.  Through an agreement with Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw , Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is offering its Nurse Anesthesia program via distance education courses beginning fall 2006.

             The 24-month, full-time program offers classroom education and extensive clinical affiliations, which provide experience in all types of anesthetic management.  The program is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.  “Upon program completion, the graduate is fully prepared to complete the National Certification Examination and to practice in a clinical setting,” said Prudentia Worth, director of the Nurse Anesthetist Program.

             Application deadline for fall 2006 is July 1, 2005.  Admission to the Nurse Anesthesia program begins one year prior to a student’s expected matriculation into the professional program.  Admission requirements must be met and application on file at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences before the Nurse Anesthesia Department schedules a personal interview.
