National film premiere of "Professional Revolutionary: The Life of Saul Wellman" to be held at Wayne State University

The national film premiere of "Professional Revolutionary: The Life of Saul Wellman" will be held on Sunday, May 22, 3:00 pm, at 100 General Lectures Building, 5045 Anthony Wayne Drive (Third Avenue), at Warren Avenue.

Directed by academy award nominated director Judith Montell, the film chronicles the life of celebrated Detroiter Saul Wellman who risked his life for his beliefs and eventually became an internationally honored thinker, activist, writer and mentor. Wellman recently died at age 90.
This film is a unique collaboration between Montell, Detroit Public Television, Wayne State University Distinguished Professor Ronald Aronson; and was supported by Wayne State University, Michigan Humanities Council, Detroit Public Benefit Corporation and hundreds of individual contributors.

A reception will be held preceding the film at 2 p.m. in the Polish Lounge of Alex Manoogian Hall, located directly across from the screening. National Book Award author Victor Navasky, publisher/editor of The Nation Magazine, will be the featured speaker.

Following the screening, a discussion will be held at 4 p.m. with Montell, Navasky and other individuals from the film.

Fees to participate in the events are as follows: Film only viewing, $20; Reception and Film, $75; Students/Low Income, $10.
