Port Huron, Mich. -- Wayne State University, which has partnered with St. Clair County Community College (SC4) to bring Wayne State bachelor's degree courses to area residents, will hold an Open House at SC4's MTEC Building from 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005. Admissions counselors and advisors will be on hand to speed the application process for area residents.
The Open House will be held in the University Center in SC4's M-TEC Building, located at the corner of Erie and Glenwood streets in Port Huron. Admissions counselors and program advisors will be on hand. Also available during the session will be an \"Instant Admission\" service, to ensure students do not have endure a lengthy application process. \"Instant admission\" will be offered to students who complete an application and pay the $30 admission fee by check or money order during the information session.
\"It's really a one-stop opportunity for St. Clair County residents who would like to apply to Wayne State University,\" said Robert Walsh, Director, Macomb and St. Clair Counties. \"During the open house, you can learn more about Wayne State's bachelor's degree programs - including the Engineering Technology, Interdisciplinary Studies and Social Work courses offered at SC4 - plus apply for admission, receive advising services and more all in one event. It's a great time-saving process for applicants, who can be admitted one day and can register for courses the next day.\"
According to Walsh, the Interdisciplinary Studies degree is ideal for the working professional who already has some college credit. \"The program will accept up to 64 credits of coursework and credits from every associate degree,\" explained Walsh.
The Social Work courses have already proven popular at SC4 as have the Engineering Technology courses that allow students to get hands-on in an industrial career. \"Engineering Technology deals with the application of knowledge and skills to industrial processes, production and management,\" said Walsh. \"Education in this field is in high demand, and we're excited to provide these classes to St. Clair County residents.\"
