WDET presents \"Motor City Music Week\"

Station To Spotlight Detroit Artists April 18-24 As City Hosts Motor City Music Conference

DETROIT – April 15, 2005 – As the music world converges in Detroit next week for the Motor City Music Conference (MC2), WDET will be celebrating the vast array of musical artists with Detroit roots. WDET’s “Motor City Music Week” kicks off on The Judy Adams Program on Monday, April 18 at 9:00am and continues on all the station’s music programming through Sunday, April 24. While WDET is renowned for playing local artists all the time, the “Motor City Music Week” will showcase the contributions Detroit artists have made to music throughout the years.

In typical WDET fashion, no genre of music will be ignored. The “Motor City Music Week” will feature everything from the DSO to the Dirtbombs. The WDET music hosts will be going through the station’s extensive music library and treating listeners to Detroit artists representing a multiple of genres including jazz, blues, rock, R&B, electronic, classical, world and folk.

“The musical heritage of Detroit is incredibly rich and diverse,” said Judy Adams, WDET program director and music host. “WDET has a long history of featuring local artists in its music mix, and we’re proud to offer listeners this special celebration of Detroit musical artistry.”

WDET will also be bringing the Detroit sounds to a national and global audience through its web stream at wdetfm.org. The station receives thousands of streaming tune-ins from throughout the world each month, making the “Motor City Music Week” available to Detroit music fans around the world.
