Wayne State's student choreographers Break Away

Senior Capstone Concerts take place April 23 and 24

DETROIT (Apr. 13, 2005) - The Maggie Allesee Department of Dance presents Emerging Choreographers, Senior Capstone Concert: Break Away, April 23 at 8PM and April 24 at 3PM in the Maggie Allesee Dance Studio, showcasing the best in new choreographic work from the brightest young dance artists and performers from Wayne State University.

Break Away is under the artistic direction of Chair Dr. Doug Risner, and features the work of graduating seniors Lindsey Hinderliter of Redford, MI; Sharissa Thompson of Detroit; and Erin Hennig, Grand Blanc, MI. Each choreographer will present a representative body of choreographic work honed over the years of study at WSU. This year's emerging choreographers also include recent dance graduates Chris Masters, now an independent dance artist in New York City and Liz Schmidt of Gravity, Detroit's only professional jazz and hip-hop dance company.

Tickets available at the door one hour prior to performance; ticket prices are $12 General Admission/$6 Student ID & Seniors. Maggie Allesee Studio Series is presented in Wayne State's Old Main Building, Third Floor Studio 3317.

The Maggie Allesee Department of Dance is one of 65 exemplary dance institutions accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance and is a vital division of Wayne State's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts.
