School of Business Administration at Wayne State to honor business leaders Jay Alix, Terry Cross, at Annual Awards Program, April 12

Jay Alix, chairman and chief executive officer of AlixPartners Holdings Inc. and of Questor Partners Holdings Inc., will receive the Michigan Executive of the Year Award from the Wayne State University School of Business Administration at the 2005 Recognition and Awards Program on Tuesday, April 12, 6 - 9 p.m., at the Detroit Marriott - Renaissance Center.

Originally from Waterbury, Conn., Alix currently resides in West Bloomfield. AlixPartners has offices in Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Dusseldorf, London, Los Angeles, Milan, Munich, New York and Tokyo.

Receiving the Distinguished Alumnus Award will be Terry Cross, owner of Windward Associates, a venture consulting business. Cross, who received his MBA from Wayne State in 1964, has had an extensive and distinguished career as a stockbroker, entrepreneur and financial advisor. He is a Grosse Pointe resident.

Margaret Smoller, associate professor of finance at WSU, will receive the School of Business Administration\'s Distinguished Teacher Award. A resident of Ann Arbor, she has expertise in the areas of derivatives pricing, market microstructure, and the price and operating performance effects of equity offerings.

Eric Tsang, assistant professor of management at WSU, will receive the business school\'s Distinguished Research Award. A resident of Troy, he is internationally recognized for his research in the areas of organizational learning, knowledge management, international strategic alliance, and management issues in China.

Richard F. Beltramini, professor of marketing at WSU, will receive the Board of Visitors Faculty Fellow Award, a three-year appointment that carries a $5,000 per year stipend. A resident of Troy, his primary research focus is in the believability of marketing communications information. The 39-member Board of Visitors is an advisory body to the business school.

To cap off the evening, more than 100 business students will receive scholarships totaling approximately $250,000. This year, Dean Harvey Kahalas and the business school faculty decided to award an additional $200,000 in scholarships for recruiting talented undergraduate and graduate students into the School of Business Administration.
