Noted legal expert to address \"Justice American Style: Muslims in America Post 9/11\"

Wayne State\'s Center for the Study of Citizenship will host a lecture by Kathleen Moore, Chair of the Law and Society Program at the University of California - Santa Barbara on the topic of "Justice American Style: Muslims in America Post 9/11," on Wed., April 6, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. The lecture, at the WSU Alumni House, is free and open to the public.

Kathleen Moore is associate professor and chair of the Law & Society Program at UC Santa Barbara. She is the author of Al-Mughtaribun: American Law and the Transformation of Muslim Life in the United States, and, with Yvonne Haddad and Jane I. Smith, a forthcoming book on Muslim women in America. She is currently studying American public attitudes toward Muslim presence in the United States, and the practice of civil liberties by Muslims in the United States. She has published articles on topics ranging from questions of legal orientalism in American courts, to U.S. immigration policy, to the intersection of globalization with local practices of Islamic legal interpretation in British and American settings.

"Kathleen Moore\'s research on the Muslim-American experience is of the utmost importance to understanding the impact of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 on American society and its Muslim citizens," said Marc Kruman, director of the Center for the Study of Citizenship.
