Wayne State Music Major Wins 2005 Wayne Idol Competition

DETROIT, MI (March 15, 2005) - Last Thursday, March 10, Redford resident Gary Bozigian won the final round of the annual Wayne Idol Competition. As the 2005 Wayne Idol, Bozigian, a sophomore and vocal performance major at Wayne, will sing the National Anthem at WSU Day at Comerica Park on April 22, as well as have an opportunity to perform at Wayne\'s 22nd Annual Funeral for Ol\' Man Winter on April 6 and at the Mad Anthony concert on April 21. Bozigian, an opera hopeful and president of the Armenian Students Association, was one of three contestants who competed for the Wayne Idol title. This year\'s event was hosted by radio personality Jay Towers of WDRQ-FM. Each contestant sang three selections; a contemporary ballad, a song of choice, and a classic ballad. The contestants performed for three judges and a crowd of over 150 WSU students. Bozigian won the crowd and the 2005 Wayne Idol title with Nat King Cole\'s \"Unforgettable.\" His skillful performance received a standing ovation. The 2005 competition, organized by the WSU Student Council Program Board, began in January and is the University\'s third edition of Wayne Idol. For additional information visit www.wayne.edu.
