Wayne State University students will make a difference with 2nd annual Alternative Spring Break Detroit

On March 13-18, 2005, 30 Wayne State University student volunteers will participate in Project Volunteer's largest event of the school year. Alternative Spring Break Detroit (ASBD) is a substance-free spring break that's an alternative to the traditional spring break. Students will engage in a variety of experiences throughout the community designed to familiarize them with the issues that affect the city today. Activities include: touring local art galleries, going behind-the-scenes of Super Bowl XL at Ford Field, visiting the 36th District Court, participating in local service projects and dining at various ethnic restaurants. All participants will also take part in presentations about diversity, crime/blight, arts/culture and city revitalization. This event is sponsored by Project Volunteer and the Dean of Students Office. Assistance was also provided by the Detroit Orientation Institute (DOI).
