CMU seeks $12.3 million increase

Central Michigan University's Board of Trustees is expected to approve a request Thursday asking the state to increase CMU's appropriations by $12.3 million or $646 per student. University President Michael Rao is asking the state to invest $4,396 in every CMU student this coming fiscal year, a 17 percent increase from the $3,750 provided per student this year. Wayne State University is noted along with the University of Michigan and Michigan State University as one of the three research universities. CMU is looking for the average of 12 universities minus the three research universities in determining appropriate or comparable funding.
