Teach children how to learn

Mark J. Larson, coordinator of early childhood education and assistant professor in Wayne State's College of Education, supports Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as instructional technology. Larson says in an op-ed that external reinforcement for young children, such as receiving play money to purchase desirable items as a learning reward, was effectively used to teach reading and mathematics to early elementary age students with disabilities at the Experimental Education Unit, University of Washington in Seattle in the late 1980's.
