A former Michigan couple, Bill and Dee Brehm donated $44 million to a research facility at the University of Michigan to try and find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. The donation is the largest gift ever to the U-M health system. Bill Brehm is a U-M alum and former U.S Defense Department official who made his fortune by starting the SRA International, an informational science company in Fairfax, Virginia.
