This year's concert will feature the WSU Symphonic Chorus & Orchestra, performing the Mozart "Regina Coeli". The Chorus will also be performing the Vierne Kyrie for two organs from the "Solemn Mass". Additionally, the Wayne State Concert Chorale, Men's Glee Club, Wind Symphony, as well as faculty soloists will be featured. Each year, the audience joins in singing traditional hymns as part of this annual celebration.
Originally designated as a "Thanksgiving" Choral Concert, the "Annual Salute Concerts" have grown to be an institution treasured by Wayne State and the Metropolitan Detroit Community. Founded by the late Malcolm Johns in 1967, Dennis J. Tini has continued this time-honored tradition since 1978 as Music Director/Conductor of the "Annual Salute Concerts to Downtown Detroit". "Please accept our enthusiastic invitation to join us for the 38th Annual Salute Concert to Downtown Detroit. This annual celebration underscores the power of music to communicate the love and joy of the holiday season, hope for global peace, as well as honor our Community's rich heritage" states Professor and Chair, Dennis J. Tini.
