Dr. John Crissman, dean of Wayne State's School of Medicine, is resigning Friday after the university decided not to renew his contract. Wayne State University Provost Nancy Barrett said Crissman did a "very good job," crediting him with recruiting good doctors as department heads and for establishing collaborative relationships with the medical community, including the DMC and Henry Ford Health System. "We're very grateful for his services," Barrett said. A national search will be launched to find a successor and Barrett says the ideal candidate will be a physician "who is interested in an urban setting and appreciates the environment we work in."
