U.S. scientists win Nobel Prize by a nose

Research into olfaction, which earned U.S. scientists Richard Axel and Linda Buck the 2004 Nobel Prize for medicine is part of a growing field and WSU is part of the effort. Wayne State researchers in Detroit asked 25 families, to sleep in the same t-shirt for three nights while outsiders did the same. Family members could then identify the smell of other family members and preferred the scent of non-relatives.
