Cutting edge of danger

Driven by medical studies that point out the hazards, state and federal authorities are embarking on campaigns in English and Vietnamese to educate and survey manicurists due to their exposure to noxious fumes. In 2002, researchers at Wayne State examined 150 nail technicians with prolonged exposure to methyl methacrylate, an adhesive, and found they suffered problems with cognitive efficiency, memory and learning.
