Brock began his career at the Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave as an actor in 1998. He soon began developing educational programs for youth as the theatre's first full-time Educational Director in 1998. He took over as the Artistic Director of the theatre in 2001 and continues to produce quality theatre in the Kentucky area.
His acting credits are numerous. He has performed with the Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Folgers Shakespeare Theatre, the Fulton Opera House, and Off-Broadway with the Blue Light Theatre. Some of his favorite roles with the Kentucky Repertory Theatre include Biff in Death of a Salesman, and Cornelius Hackl in The Matchmaker. In addition, he co-starred with Annie Potts in Love Letters in both 2002 and 2003.
Brock will be available to host a talkback with students on Friday October 1 in the Hilberry Theatre. He will receive the Arts Achievement Award in a ceremony at the Alumni House at 441 Ferry Mall. The ceremony is slated for 6:00 p.m. and a dinner will follow.
Previous award winners include such notable alumni as actor Jeffrey Tambor, actor and playwright Ruben Santiago-Hudson, local playwright Kim Carney, stage manager for the American Ballet Theatre Alice Galloway, actor and educational pioneer Kathleen Gaffney and Tony Award-winning costume designer, Martin Packledinaz. In addition to Theatre, the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts also awards alumni in the areas of Art Education, Dance, Music, Art, and Art History and Communication.
