City planning

Free Press editorial page editor Ron Dzwonkowski notes that Wayne State University experts worked with city planner Constantine Doxiadis on a major Detroit urban plan that was unveiled in 1970. The project called for an extensive mass transit system, an interlocked grid of freeways and a new anchor city on the St. Clair River. Doxiadis' plan, designed to be completed by 2000, never advanced beyond the announcement stage.
