Ed Christian, of Grosse Pointe, Mich., Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saga Communications, Inc. will receive the Distinguished Corporate Leader Award, presented to an alumna/us who has enjoyed a lifetime of achievement in his or her chosen field. Saga Communications owns or operates 80 radio stations, three state networks and eight television stations in 24 markets across the United States. The broadcast publication Radio Ink has called Christian one of the most influential radio executives in the United States. Saga has been elected to the highly selective Forbes' list of the "200 Best Small Companies in America" in 2000, 2002 and 2003. Christian has been listed in Who's Who in America for 12 consecutive editions. He has also been listed in Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in the Midwest. Christian received his bachelor's degree in mass communications from Wayne State University in 1973.
Other awardees include Terry A. Reiley, President of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, the Michigan Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital and Senior Vice President of the Detroit Medical Center, who will receive the 21st Century Award; the Delphi Corporation, who will receive the Corporate Citizenship Award; and writer, producer and director Monice Mitchell Simms, of Flower Girl Productions, Inc., who will receive the Emerging Corporate Leader Award.
