The 5th Annual Lent Upson Lecture will be delivered by Carolyn Ban at the McGregor Conference Center on February 26, 2004. The lecture begins at 5:00 p.m. The event is cosponsored by the Wayne State Department of Political Science, the Citizens Research Council of Michigan, and the College of Liberal Arts.
Ban is Dean and Professor of Public and Urban Affairs of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs of the University of Pittsburgh. She is an authority on human resources management and has numerous publications in the field. In 2001-2002, she served as President of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. She was elected in 1997 as a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. The title of her Lecture is: "Are We Losing the Public in Public Service?"
The lecture will be followed by a Reception and the Public Administration Awards Banquet. Awards include the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Pelham Award, and Pi Alpha Alpha induction.
The event is the premier annual event in Wayne State University's Graduate Program in Public Administration. The Lecture and Reception are free and open to the public.
