Address by former White House Chief of Staff launches Academy of Scholars lecture series

An address by John Podesta, White House chief of staff under President Bill Clinton, launches the Academy of Scholars Senior Lecture Series for 2004.

Podesta's lecture, titled "Reshaping our Energy Future: The Apollo Project and Energy Independence for America," will be at 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, in the Bernath Auditorium of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the WSU Academy of Scholars and Center for the Study of Citizenship. Admission is free. For more information, contact Terrie Pickering, WSU Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, (313) 577-0970.

A frequent guest of Sunday morning news programs, Podesta is known for his straight talk, acerbic wit, and fierce defense of the Clinton administration -which he also served as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff. He is currently president and CEO of the Center for American Progress, a nonpartisan research and educational institute dedicated to promoting a strong, just and free America that ensures opportunity for all Americans.
