The 2003 Detroit Festival of the Arts, presented by Marshall Field's, is coming to Detroit's Cultural Center and Wayne State's campus Sept. 12 -14. The weekend festival will include tons of entertainment for the family including musical performances, street theatre and of course food.
Included in the activities will be the DaimlerChrysler Children's Fair at Wayne State. The fair will offer hands-on arts and crafts activities and performances geared for children and families.
Other acts include: the Cyro Baptista & the Donkey from Brazil; Cool Crooners from Zimbabwe; the Project Bandaloop, the popular performance group that danced on the facade of the Scarab Club last year and The Natural Theatre Company, the comic visual theatre group from Bath, England.
The festival runs from 4-10 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday. Children's Activities: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon - 6 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission for the festival.
The University Cultural Center Association and Wayne State produce the festival.
Wayne State staff and students attending the festival may park in Structure #2 on Anthony Wayne Drive on Saturday and Sunday. They just need to show the attendant their One Card for entry.
