DETROIT - July 1, 2003 - WDET is pleased to be expanding its service to listeners with additions to its award-winning weekend programming. Starting Saturday, July 5th, WDET will begin airing The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell, The Infinite Mind, and The Motley Fool. These new additions join the popular programs already heard each weekend such as Car Talk, Living On Earth, Fresh Air and This American Life. WDET's Matthew McLean will also begin as local host for Weekend Edition Saturday and Weekend Edition Sunday on July 5th.

"Adding a local host for Weekend Edition and these new programs increases service to our listeners," said Judy Adams, WDET program director. "Listeners have always relied on WDET to inform, enlighten and entertain and our new weekend lineup continues that tradition."

The new weekend morning programming lineup at WDET is as follows:

SATURDAY

• 5:00 AM Fresh Air Archive Edition - The best of host Terry Gross' insightful conversations with leaders in the arts, politics, science and religion.
• 6:00 AM This American Life - Host Ira Glass creates a one-of-a-kind exploration on facets of American life.
• 7:00 AM Car Talk - Join hosts Tom and Ray Magliozzi for car repair advice, roadside psychology and lots of laughs.
• 8:00 AM Weekend Edition Saturday with local host Matthew McLean - Get local news and information in addition to NPR's weekend news magazine...plus satire from Dr. Science.

• 5:00 AM Living On Earth - Environmental features, interviews and commentary with host Steve Curwood.
• 5:30 AM The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell - Join New York Times film critic Elvis Mitchell as he spends time with the most influential forces in film, popular art and entertainment.
• 6:00 AM The Infinite Mind - Dr. Fred Goodwin hosts this award-winning program that widely explores the issues of human psychology.
• 7:00 AM The Motley Fool - Tom and David Gardner serve up a mix of financial education, amusement and investment information.
• 8:00 AM Weekend Edition Sunday with local host Matthew McLean - Get local news and information in addition to NPR's weekend news magazine...plus satire from Dr. Science.
